Blogs Noted

DCist did a write up on my blog, but it seems like the commenters aren't getting the depth of how much of a problem street harassment is.

In response to my posting her story on my blog, Nothing Permanent linked my blog on her site.

Life Off Balance made a blog post about it as well. "Maybe I'm Just Ugly?" No, it has nothing to do with your looks...it has a lot to do with the messed-up mentality of these men who need to target a "smaller" victim.

Whatever anyone's take on this, I am glad that the issue of street harassment is starting to be realized. I hope people start to take more action against it!

I also can't believe the sorts of comments on DCist. "Get over it"? If these sorts of comments from the readers of an liberal, hipster, white, educated blog don't prove how pervasive rape culture is in our society is, then I don't know what will. Oh wait, right, all the sexual harassment and assault does.

Thank you thank you thank you. I was beginning to think it was just me. This happens EVERY DAY to me when I walk home (i live in good old columbia heights....) Something really does need to be done.

Kudos for you to starting the blog and even more so for trying to engage DCist commenters. I don't even bother commenting there after dealing with some comments on banal issues. The tone of the comments there did not surprise me in the least, unfortunately, and I would not have been able to stick with all of the responses you made it through.
